90pointsMitolo 2017 Jester Grenache (McLaren Vale)

This starts out with a fragrant, intriguing nose of herbal tonic, red fruit, rose petal, a copper penny tang and a damp earth core. The acidity on the palate is a little surprising and unexpected for this grape variety. It's crisp and makes the fruit feel a touch tart. But there's also a lovely, sandy-textured palate wound with soft tannins. Sip slightly chilled on a warm day. Christina Pickard
