Monte De Oro 2011 Estate Petite Sirah (Temecula Valley)

Fresh squeezed blackberries, black pepper and fragrant purple flowers hit the nose on this wine that spent 30 months in French, Hungarian and American oak. Flavors of balsamic reduction arise on the palate, with more blackberry and some oregano. The tannins could use a tad more mellowing. Matt Kettmann
