Monte De Oro 2016 Cuvée De Oro Red (Temecula Valley)

Lighter in color than most Rhône-style reds, this blend of 40% Grenache, 40% Mourvèdre and 20% Syrah delivers compelling aromas of hibiscus, rose, tarragon and smoked berries. There's a roasted fennel and tarragon kick to the palate, where the plummy flavors are balanced by firm structure and acidity. Matt Kettmann
