In general we're fans of Montes, so it was with disappointment that we found soupy aromas and a hard, hot feel on this Merlot. Yes, there's black cherry and plum flavors, but also in the mix are olive, green pepper and bitter tannins. This wine sticks out for its hard mouthfeel and pitch-black finishing notes.
