85pointsMontes 2007 Classic Series Merlot (Colchagua Valley)

A little roasted and leafy smelling, which is typical for base-level Chilean Merlot. The palate is sweet almost to the brink of being candied, with plum and chocolate flavors running the show. Not much structure or tannic bite here, but as a whole it's tasty and gets better as it opens up. Michael Schachner
