Moonbase Cellars 2019 Les Collines Syrah Block 31 Syrah (Walla Walla Valley (WA))

Editors' Choice

This is an inaugural release from this producer, and it flat-out impresses. Coming from one of the valley's top Syrah sites, it was cofermented with 4% Viognier with two pick dates two weeks apart. The aromas are expressive, with piercingly pure notes of fresh raspberry, blueberry, violet, medicine, orange peel, smoked meat and dried herbs. The fruit flavors show a lot of density while retaining a sense of levity. It's yummy. Sean P. Sullivan
