Moorooduc 2016 The Moorooduc McIntyre Chardonnay (Mornington Peninsula)

This vintage is an opulent and toasty number. Straw yellow in color, this wild fermented wine opens with rich but focused aromas of lemon, lime, orange peel and white-flower blossoms, backed by butterscotch oak and salty, seashell reductive qualities. The fruit is concentrated on the palate, slippery in texture and supported by more toasty, polished oak nuances. This wine has a long life ahead of it. Drink now through 2029. Christina Pickard
