Barrel aged and Bordeaux in style, this is a rich, opulent SB in direct opposition to the lean, more pungent and zesty regional bottlings. There's not a lick of the variety's typical greenness. Instead, subtle citrus and apple are ensconced in toffeed toasty oak. What it lacks in flavor complexity and depth it makes up for in texture. It's rich and round but with lovely acidity. A highly stylized if divisive wine that this long-standing estate has executed deftly. Drink now–2030. Christina Pickard
