Moulin de la Gardette 2017 Ventabren (Gigondas)

Editors' Choice

Notes of black fig and blueberry are accented by whiffs of leather, tobacco and ginger in this lusciously textured red. A blend of Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault sourced from sand and marl soils, it's ripe but vivacious, zingy even, in composure. Firm, penetrating tannins leave a lingering, chalky sensation on the finish. Delightful already, it should drink well through 2030. Anna Lee C. Iijima
