Mount Eden Vineyards 2002 Chardonnay (Santa Cruz Mountains)

This winery's Chardonnays are long-lived, but that means they're tight and hard in youth. Even though this one's more than three years old, it's still high in acids and the fruit is locked down under a straitjacket of steel and minerals. Best left alone until 2007, and should hold for 10 years afterward.
