Niebaum-Coppola 2000 Edizione Pennino Zinfandel (Rutherford)

Dark, almost black. You just know this is a big wine. Smells a bit one-dimensional and earthy, with blackberry notes and an oaky overlay. But it tastes a lot better. Big and thick, it fills the mouth with blackberry flavor, wrapped in soft, intricate tannins. —S.H.
