Nittnaus Anita und Hans 2015 Altenberg Blaufränkisch (Leithaberg)

The nose is shy but with air it gives way to ripe but tart plum and cherry fruit. On the palate this broadens out into the aromatic hit of Morello and Amarena, kept in tight check by a fine web of gossamer tannins and fresh, bright acidity. This is dense but not extracted, toned but not bulky. This very honestly presented red comes across as totally elegant and wonderfully understated. Impressive but certainly not showy. Drink 2020–2030. Anne Krebiehl MW
