Not every vintage is ideal, and the '07 version of Alfa Crux, while still very good, is not on a par with prior years. Smells brushy and roasted. The palate feels edgy and the flavors are rooty, sweet and baked, with prune-like fruit and pepper accents. Tastes rustic on the finish.
