Ogier 2016 Clos de l'Oratoire des Papes Red (Châteauneuf-du-Pape)

Lifted black-cherry and blackberry aromas are accented by savory notes of licorice, bay leaf and thyme in this sultry blend of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre and Cinsault. It's full bodied and supple, with a firm mineral tang anchoring the finish. Fine-grained but grippy tannins will meld with time but the wine is already showing beautifully. Anna Lee C. Iijima
