Ogier 2017 La Cuvée des Hospices Red (Châteauneuf-du-Pape)

Cellar Selection

Rich, deeply concentrated blackberry and plum flavors are veiled in shadowy notes of crushed earth, anise and smoky minerals. A Grenache-dominant blend of six regional grape varieties, it's profoundly ripe but has an intensity and drive that's quite thrilling. While tightly wound in youth, it should open further from 2022 and drink gorgeously well past 2030. Anna Lee C. Iijima
