Oliver's Taranga Vineyards 2017 Shiraz (McLaren Vale)

Editors' Choice

The Oliver family boasts a long lineage as winegrowers in McLaren Vale. Their label is headed up by the talented Corrina Wright, who does her family proud. The Shiraz is bursting with personality and a sense of place. Rhubarb, plum, mint, violet, chocolate and a meaty element envelop the senses, while in the mouth it's rich (this is McLaren Vale, after all) but focused less on power and more on layers of flavor and texture, like grilled rhubarb and myriad herbs and spices. A multidimensional Shiraz with ease and limpidity for drinking over the next few years. Christina Pickard
