Otis Kenyon 2008 Patina Vineyard Syrah (Walla Walla Valley (WA))

Just two barrels of 100% Syrah were made, using fruit from this dry-farmed vineyard with a distinctive flavor stamp. Tart, acidic, a bit spiky, with fruit flavors of sweet cherry tomato and grape candy. It hits a wall in the midpalate, seems to hover there for awhile, perhaps awaiting another couple of years of bottle age to flow freely through the finish. Paul Gregutt
