Ott & Hunter 2017 Intrépide Boushey Vineyard Red (Yakima Valley)

Cabernets Sauvignon (56%) and Franc (40%) make up most of this wine, finished off with a dash of Malbec (4%). Coming from a vineyard best known for its Rhône excellence but that has sneaky good Bordeaux varieties, too, the wine offers reserved aromas, with notes of smoke and cherry far beneath the surface along with whiffs of bittersweet chocolate. The palate is more giving, showing elegance, restraint and proportion. Sean P. Sullivan
