Owen Roe 2018 Sojeau Vineyard Connacht Pinot Noir (Eola-Amity Hills)

Editors' Choice

This is a barrel selection, which seems to have an extra burst of toast and tannin as compared with the other Sojeau Vineyard cuvée. There's a strong streak of coffee and chocolate, along with almond paste and hazelnut butter. That's a lot of nonfruit flavors, but the blueberry and blackberry fruit hangs in there with a touch of marionberry jam also. This lush and compelling wine may be enjoyed immediately but has the power and balance to age. Paul Gregutt
