Paddy Borthwick 2018 Left Hand Pinot Noir (Wairarapa)

A counterpart to the Right Hand bottling, this is similar in weight and structure. It opens with some appealing notes of potpourri, red fruit, woodsy spice, cola, vanillin oak notes and a bit of meatiness. The palate is medium to full bodied, and here the toasty barrel notes dominate, even amid plentiful juicy berry fruit. There's a lot of winemaking here obscuring vineyard expression.
