Paradise Springs 2017 Petit Verdot (Virginia)

Black currant and blackberry leaf aromas dance with fresh plum and spruce tips. Juicy, ripe dark-berry flavors are bright upfront, and black cherry and black currant are backed by subtle oak, thyme and sage. Tannins are gritty and drying, with the berry-flavored acidity working overtime to keep the balance. Tingling black pepper and plum linger through the finish, bolstered by the ample acidity with a light bitter edge. Fiona Adams
