Passopisciaro 2008 Passopisciaro Red (Sicilia)
Passopisciaro is the name of a tiny town on the slopes of Mount Etna in the heart of the volcano's most celebrated wine area. Tuscan nobleman Andrea Franchetti bought property here many years ago and now leads a charge for quality wines from this unique site in southern Italy. His expression is nuanced and complex, with firmly polished tannins and bright end notes of wild berry, crushed stone and dried rosemary.

All tastings reported in the Buying Guide are performed blind. Typically, products are tasted in peer-group flights of from 5-8 samples. Reviewers may know general information about a flight to provide context—vintage, variety or appellation—but never the producer or retail price of any given selection. When possible, products considered flawed or uncustomary are retasted.
