Paul Cluver 2013 Cape Winemakers Guild Wagon Trail Chardonnay (Elgin)

Winemaker: Andries Burger. A fine Chardonnay that shows impeccable balance, this offers upfront aromas of apple flesh, Bartlett pear and underripe peach that are spiced by hints of lightly toasted oak and baking spice. There's a slight creaminess to the palate, with ripe, rich fruit flavors and toasted nut tones, all lifted by ample acidity. Notes of toasted brioche and wood-grilled apple linger on the finish. Drink now–2018. Lauren Buzzeo
