Paumanok 2016 Estate Bottled Petit Verdot (North Fork of Long Island)

There's real purity to the nose of this wine, showing freshly pressed blackberry and dark cherry aromas melding effortlessly with black pepper and stems. It's juicy, punchy and tasty on the medium-bodied palate, with luscious berry fruit that holds court but never feels overblown. There's grip and drive to it all, with a firm webbing of fine tannins and pulsing acidity lending all the necessary balance. Alexander Peartree
