Initially reductive and oniony, this needs swirling in the glass before its true character shines. Even when open, it's more vegetal than fruit-driven. Summer veg garden characters of tomato leaf, bell pepper, snow pea and black currant leaf are joined only peripherally by lemon notes. The palate is straightforward, crisp and slippery with what feels like a bit of residual sugar lingering perhaps in an attempt to make things feel riper and fleshier than they are. Christina Pickard
