Peñalba Herraiz 2012 Aptus 8 Meses en Barrica (Ribera del Duero)

Baked, earthy aromas of vanilla and raisin suggest a ripe wine with an overt oak character. A shearing, tannic palate is an enamel-peeler, while this tastes of wiry plum and blackberry. On the finish it settles a bit, leaving spicy notes. Michael Schachner
