Penfolds 1999 Bin 389 Cabernet Sauvignon-Shiraz (South Australia)

Dense and woody in the nose, with a strong hint of charcoal and caramel. The power-packed palate has black cherry, blackberry and chocolate on full offer, while it finishes slightly bitter, with a taste of espresso. Very hard and firm; not a cuddly wine. Michael Schachner
