This Shiraz from Penfolds's original Magill Vineyard, located just outside of Adelaide, is ever so slightly less rich and muscular than its RWT counterpart. Notes of raspberry, black cherry, dust, earth and slight meatiness are very nearly overwhelmed by powerful oak tannins at the moment, but they're fine grained and balanced by crisp acidity. Needs time in the bottle. Drink 2019–2037.
