Penfolds 2016 Bin 707 Cabernet Sauvignon (Australia)

Cellar Selection

The nose is a heady combo of lifted red currant, red licorice, flowers, mocha and mint. It's also a touch meaty and the oak spice—from 20 months in new American oak barrels—is also apparent. The palate is big but poised and lifted by tangy, curranty fruit and a velvety, almost creamy texture. It is currently tightly wound by fine-grained, herb-tinged tannins and should cellar through 2039. Christina Pickard
