Penfolds 2020 Bin 389 Red (South Australia)

An almost even split of Cab and Shiraz, this is a muscular, reticent red you could cut with a knife. Plump plum and blackberry aromas are followed by peppery, dusty spices and chocolatey oak. Tannins are powerful and sinewy, wrapping around the tongue like a vice, leaving just enough room for the dark fruit to shine. Drink 2024–2034. Christina Pickard
