Peregrine 2018 Pinot Gris (Central Otago)

Unlike some New Zealand Pinot Gris, where winemaking technique can mask varietal character, Peregrine's version feels less forced and more food-friendly. Opening with delicate notes of honeysuckle, pear and yeasty apple, plump, fleshy fruit and a viscous texture follow on the palate. The rich mouthfeel is lifted by crisp acidity, which veers a little on the astringent side on the finish. Christina Pickard
