Peregrine Hill 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon (Texas)

Sweet tobacco, oak and spice on the nose show promise, and in the glass the sturdy tannins and tobacco flavors show that the winemakers meant business. The wine feels heavy and the parts somewhat disparate, though—it needs more balance and heft. Still, interesting flavors are part of the package. Susan Kostrzewa
