Phelps Creek 2018 Homestead Pinot Noir (Columbia Gorge (OR))

Pretty pie cherry fruit is in the mix, along with suggestions of mushroom, umami and salt. These estate grapes were given 100% whole-cluster fermentation followed by aging in neutral French oak. The tannins are pleasantly muted, and the finish brings in flavors of breakfast tea. Not a big wine, but a very pleasant one for drinking over the next half decade. Paul Gregutt
