Phelps Creek 2018 Merlot (Columbia Gorge (OR))

A handful of Columbia Valley vineyards are located across the river in Oregon. This smooth and sturdy Merlot was aged just under two years in French oak. It's got light black raspberry and black cherry fruit, along with slightly charred barrel flavors framing the tannins. Black tea and a hint of tobacco trail the finish. Paul Gregutt
