Philippe Sohler 2019 Pinot Gris (Alsace)

This wine is light and pretty on the nose, with expected fragrances of fresh apple and white blossom. On the palate, despite its youth and light body, it offers deeper, almost oxidative tones of cooked apple and walnut (Seder attendees may recognize charoset). There's also a mild savory note of Jarlsberg cheese that lingers into the finish. Acidity is lively and palate-cleansing without being puckery. Overall, this is a crowd-pleaser that will pair with anything from a cheese platter to shellfish to a light pasta dish. Layla Schlack
