Poderi Colla 1999 Tenuta Roncaglia (Barbaresco)

What a gorgeous nose—it's all sweet dried cherries, root beer and leather. The flavors are ripe and pronounced. Cherries, raspberries and cola are front and forward. Like any proper young Nebbiolo, it's tight and tannic, with a dry coffee-tinged finish. But the fruit dominates over astringency. Michael Schachner
