Ponzi 2017 Tavola Pinot Noir (Willamette Valley)

Following a bit of a difficult vintage, the latest vintage of Ponzi's popular Tavola bottling seems a bit stiff and chewy. The wild berry fruit is somewhat hidden in flavors of bark and herb, and it takes a fair amount of aeration to open up the aromatics, revealing light hints of cedar, cinnamon and baking spices. Decanting is recommended. Paul Gregutt
