The complex nutmeg, clove and meat-accented cherry bouquet is appealing, but on the tongue, the wine turns decidedly harder and less generous. A touch of anise shows, but a taut, lean character prevails with plenty of oak and brisk acidity. Should open more with a year or two of aging. Will work with hearty food, too.
