This perennial value favorite scores again in 2001. It's a young, fruity, sweet wine with just enough snap to ensure balance. Aromas of cured meat, lavender and leather all signal a wine of class, and the peppy palate pours on the red fruit and candied cinnamon. A blend of Negroamaro and Primitivo that's jammy and easy to quaff. Michael Schachner
