Psagot 2013 Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon (Jerusalem Hills)

Deep red-violet to the eye, this wine features a nose of black cherry and tobacco with a hint of salinity. It opens with startling brightness on the palate that soon recedes behind grippy tannins and flavors of blackberry, cassis, smoked meats, star anise, eucalyptus and smoke. Tannins recede in turn, replaced by bright fruit and smoke that carries over into the soft finish. Mike DeSimone
