Punt Road 2019 Napoleone Vineyard Shiraz (Yarra Valley)

The 2019 vintage was picked a bit riper than usual and there's power here, but it still sits firmly in the medium-weight realm. This wine is layered with brambly berry, spice and graphite notes, with earth and mushroomy umami nuances. There's crunch to the acidity and a tang to the fruit, smudged like charcoal by the spicy, textural tannins. It's a harmonious and characterful wine. Christina Pickard
