Ramirez de la Piscina 2014 Reserva (Rioja)

Ripe berry aromas are dark and oaky, with a welcome hint of black pepper. This Reserva from a marginal vintage impresses via a lush palate that's generous and fruity. Spicy blackberry, graphite and toasty oak flavors finish with cassis and spicy oak notes. As ripe Rioja goes, this is performing; drink through 2025. Michael Schachner
