Raphael 2017 First Label Merlot (North Fork of Long Island)

Lifted aromas of menthol and tarragon meet clove on the nose, with a deep well of dark cherry and plum providing a solid core. There's density on the medium-bodied palate, where well-meshed tannins and bright acidity frame the juicy fruit, spice and herbal flavors. It's a cohesive Merlot that is enjoyable now but should hold well through 2026. Alexander Peartree
