Ravoire et Fils 2017 Olivier Ravoire (Côte Rôtie)

Pronounced violet perfume accents blackberry and black currant flavors in this satin-edged Syrah. Matured for 18 months in new and one-year-old French oak, it's a lavish wine streaked by veins of vanilla and smoke but crisp acidity and a flurry of green herbs lend freshness to the mid palate. Firm, gripping tannins need some time to meld but it should be at peak from 2021–2030. Anna Lee C. Iijima
