Reininger 2009 Seven Hills Vineyard Carmenère (Walla Walla Valley (WA))

Reininger's Carmenère is again at the top of the (rather small) heap of Washington examples, taming the usual green, herbal edge just enough with well-ripened, brambly berry fruit. There's a touch of white pepper in the finish, another indication that this late-ripening grape was picked at just the right moment. Paul Gregutt
