This is quite tannic, with a chewy palate that suggests a fair amount of whole clusters were used. Slightly more than half the barrels were new, and this reserve is fashioned from some of the oldest vines in the AVA. Blackberry, black cherry, cedar plank and espresso flavors are in play. The fruit is lovely, but more bottle age is recommended to soften up the tannins. Paul Gregutt
