Rippon 2013 Mature Vine Lake Wanaka Pinot Noir (Central Otago)

Editors' Choice

This is a beautiful Pinot from one of New Zealand's most acclaimed biodynamic producers. Plummy fruit, florals, dried leaves, white pepper and a hint of cinnamon lead into a light- to medium-bodied palate that is crisp and elegant yet powerful too, with grainy, almost chewy tannins, a warm stone character, and a long, tangy finish. Still youthful, this should go for another 7–9 years. Drink through 2027. Christina Pickard
