Robert Mondavi 1999 Zinfandel (Napa Valley)

Mondavi has tried to create a Bordeaux-style Zin, and has largely succeeded. It possesses all the necessary pepper, wildberry and earth notes, and it's a full-bodied wine, but it's controlled, a stallion in stirrups. It's very dry, dusty and atypical and, if a Zin can be so called, subtle.
