There are copious amounts of earth and herbs on the nose of this blend of 28% Merlot, 28% Sangiovese, 22% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Carmenere, 6% Malbec and 5% Petit Verdot, showing baked earth, red bell pepper and leather. It's soft and easy on the palate, with red fruit and that peppery pyrazine touch, making for a solid weeknight pizza wine. Matt Kettmann
