Rubus 2015 Shiraz (Barossa)

This is a ripe, aromatic Barossa Shiraz that is showing some bottle age and also quite a bit of sweet, vanillin oak (although the wine is dry). The fruit is appealing, however, like a baked plum and raspberry tart with cloves and a slight meaty, floral note at the back. The palate lacks some fruit weight to balance the oak and acidic bite, but tannins are sappy and the powdery texture is interesting. Christina Pickard
